Floral Design in Western Australia
Aisle and Stem designs florals for weddings and events across Western Australia, with Perth as our published market. WA sits a long way from the eastern supply chain, so imported varieties need four to five weeks and locally grown flowers and natives are usually the better call.
Where we work in Western Australia
Perth is our published WA market, covering the metropolitan area, the Swan Valley and the Perth Hills. We also work the south west, including Margaret River, as full destination planning with everything sourced and staged in one delivery.
What is different about working in WA
Distance. Anything not grown in Western Australia arrives by air, which adds cost, adds lead time and subtracts vase life before the flower reaches the studio. A substitution that a Sydney florist makes with a phone call on the morning is not available here.
The compensation is significant. Western Australia has one of the richest wildflower regions on earth, and a local growing industry producing kangaroo paw, banksia, geraldton wax, smokebush, thryptomene and boronia at a scale the eastern states pay freight for. From August to November that supply is at its best.
Seasonal conditions across the state
| Region | Climate | Floral effect |
|---|---|---|
| Perth metropolitan | Hot dry summers, mild wet winters | Dry heat is easier on flowers than humidity at the same temperature |
| Swan Valley | Hot inland summers | Natives and structured builds suit the setting and the conditions |
| Perth Hills | Cooler, bushland | Garden and foliage heavy schemes work well |
| Coastal | Afternoon sea breeze most summer days | Weighted, wind tolerant builds are the default |
| South west and Margaret River | Cooler, maritime | Three hours out, planned as a destination job |
Lead times in Western Australia
Local WA growers supply in one to two weeks. Eastern states stock runs two to three weeks. Imported varieties need four to five weeks, and once ordered they cannot be changed late, because there is no local wholesaler holding the alternative. We specify a local variety first and name the import as the alternative rather than the reverse.
